Babatngon, Leyte

Our first summer outing for Summer 2010 was in Babatngon, Leyte last March 27-28, 2010.

We went to Babatngon in a more or less 2-hour drive. With me were my family, cousins Jessa, Manel, Tina, and B-jo, lola, mommy yeng, and the Montano family.

We first went to see the waterfalls. However, we were very much unlucky to see the effects of El Nino. The falls was still there. But it wasn’t as large as it was supposed to be because the waters dried up. We took a lot of pictures then we had our lunch.

Then, in the afternoon, we went to the house where we would be staying at. We listened to music, played ‘Jump at Bubu’ (they were jumping over me… ^_^), and ate and Tina were in the laptop, doing their own thing.

At night, we went to eat dinner at the mayor’s house. WHOO!! hahaha!

For the second day, it was palm sunday. We attended mass in the church. However, I fainted. haha! But, it’s true! So, I had to go outside for air and in effect, we all just went home and had a hot cup of coffee. After recovering, we had snacks at the house of another relative of our host.

We went to Paruparong Bukid. It was a Butterfly Farm (and funny how the name of the place literally translates to butterfly farm). We looked at the butterflies and took pictures of the beautiful scene. There was also a place there where we could fish. Some of us just watched and enjoyed lemongrass tea, while others were training to be future fishermen. haha!

There was also a house there with beautiful interior design. We took pictures of it and this is where the camera lost battery. Unfortunately, we still had one more place to go.

This is the place where we had lunch. Bad luck, I forgot the name (well, I’m to blame for posting this 4 months later). It was a beautiful place with good ambiance. It was very clean and the food was very delicious. Even the restrooms were included in our picture-taking. haha!

We also had a boating ride in the.. lake of sorts. We saw swans and ducks and at the end of the ride, we went to a tree house where we could see a bone formed from the ground below.

After lunch, we went back to ~home sweet home~~! :D

VSU Field Trip

Last March 4, 2010, we had a field trip to Visayas State University.

All of us sophomores went to the field trip. But, since 250+ students can’t possibly go there all together, we were divided. Two sections went at March 3, 2010, while three of us went the next day.

St. Bartholomew and St. Matthew were the ones who went before us. While, my section, St. Peter, went along with St. Andrew and St. James.

We had a tour all around the campus, getting lectures and lessons about different kinds of things, such as planting, using plants as fuel, how to process fuel, and other things about agriculture. We also went to the Philippine Carabao Center. We bought their products such as jelly, milk, choco, iced candy, etc. Then, we were also taught how to make dried fruits, such as dried mango, and other fruits.

For lunch, we went to the beach, still inside the campus. It was a beautiful place and some of us even went swimming. The lunch was also delicious. We took some pictures here, too. We listened to music, played around, and enjoyed our time.

We also went to the museum where we saw some animal bones, preserved animals, and many more. Before entering, I also saw Christian, one of the guys (gays.. haha!) in ballet center, although he already stopped. I was surprised when I heard someone yell “VERMILAAAAAA!!” in a sing-song tone, only to find him waving hugely from across the street, leading many people to turn their heads. haha!

We also expected to see Mary Deanne, one of our classmates in elementary who now studies in VSU. However, she was in the opposite building and couldn’t come to see us. For the whole day, we tried to see her, but no, we didn’t meet.

Well, we returned to Ormoc and arrived at about 5 pm. And that ends our field trip to ViSCA!

College Days 2010

The College Days were during February 25-26, 2010. It was overlapping with the prom.

In the first day, it was only in the morning because the prom was in the afternoon. We had a parade around the city, then the whole school gathered in the school gym.

There were cheerdance performances and some song numbers by selected students from every department. There were also fun games for the small kids and booths where we could buy some snacks and drinks.

After the performances, we also went around the school where there were all kinds of stalls. Some stalls were by other schools who were promoting their schools for the graduating students. There were talks, too. Also, the hosts or the years silver and golden alumni were presented to us.

In the second day, there were more things to do. This time, there were games for us, high school students, and college students, too. Even teachers and staff were included. There was also a basketball game for the alumni versus faculty and staff. It turns out, the faculty and staff won!

There was also the pet show where all kinds of pets arrived in school. Mostly, they were dogs. Like, there were the cute chihuahuas, and a big yellow-orangy one (a golden retriever??). haha! There were also small poodles and Shih Tzu.

Me and my friends also went to the animal show where there were snakes of all sizes, an iguana, scary-looking birds, a very big turtle and such. We also were on time to see the largest snake eat a chicken whole! :D Even until we left, the lump was still visible. We took pictures every where we went. We also took part in some of the contests.

However, we were disappointed that the slide for life and rappelling were not there this year. Last school-year, we tried them and wanted to go again this year. We were also sad that the Battle of the Bands was not there. We wanted to see some bands, too. Also, Cheska wanted to play with a band and they had already planned.

Well, we still have two more years! :D
